I went with Jake and Bogi to get chinese food today and as we were driving away an old lady stopped us and asked us for change. I noticed her accent and i asked her where she was from. She said "I am american, but after world war II, we came here from germany." I flipped. I was sooo happy. I told her that i spoke german in german, and she answered in german that she did too, but then said she wasnt german, rather russian.
So i ended up saying my favorite line in polish to her and bogi spoke russian with her, and we left. What a wonderful experience. I wish i knew more about her. I bet she has some crazy stories/artifacts. In retrospect, i should have given her more than i did. She said she needed milk. I should have asked her where she lived, or given her a ride. Too bad we had foor that needed eating.
Think about that though. What a chance meeting. Who would have thought that a russian slave from world war 2 and a young american students paths would cross in 2006 in erie PA. The fucking odds, i tell you.
